It is with excitement that I introduce a new teaching position available in the Blackburn with Darwen area starting from the first week in October. The Business Manager who is driving the initial applications and shortlisting is keen to see a number of quality CVs in the next couple of days with the view to preparing lesson observations and interviews. The role has come about due to a member of staff taking early maternity. With this, the role will be expected to last until at least Easter 2019, on a full time basis working in the lower KS2 split year group. The Head teacher in school is driven to raise standards since she was appointed in 2014, she is also keen to implement a strong Christian faith in school which extends from the parents to the staff and through to the children. It will not be a necessity to be of Catholic faith to be successful in this role however you will be expected to uphold a strong Christian ethos and delivery high quality RE lesson content.
The School is larger than average with a 2-Form Entry intake throughout the school, with this you will be supported with planning and moderation by the parallel class teacher. You will be expected to undertake the full role of the Year 3/4 class teacher which will include the planning, delivery and assessment to a good standard. There will be occasions, despite it being a temporary role where you are subject to book and planning scrutiny and lesson observations. This will be used to discuss next steps in the children's learning and key to your own personal reflective practice. The school are keen to employ a member of staff who has good experience across KS2 and potentially someone capable to lead an additional subject area. This does not mean that Newly Qualified Teachers are not expected to apply, all levels of teachers are able to apply.
In terms of the location, the school is nestled within a challenging catchment area, where most of the children tend to arrive from socially deprived backgrounds with most on the Free School Meals Scheme. With this in mind, the Senior Leadership Team are keen to set clear boundaries for behaviour across school which starts and ends with the consistent use of the behaviour policy. As an Ofsted GOOD school, the Head teacher is used across the local area to support other Head teachers. As well, there are a number of children with special educational needs who attend school and receive specialist support and undertake a personalised Curriculum. You will be expected to develop these children as much as the others to ensure they make sufficient progress and develop socially. As the class teacher you will be responsible for fully informing the dedicated SENCO in school and the children's parents on their development and next steps in learning in line with their Education Health and Care Plans.
