Job description

Position: Unqualified Teaching Assistant
Location: Crosby, Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-time (Term-time only – 39 weeks per year)
Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier if available)
Hourly Rate: £13.75 – £14.55 per hour


About the Role

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning across the classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and interested in exploring a future career in education. You will work under the guidance of qualified teachers, helping to support the academic and emotional development of pupils.


Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons

  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, especially those with additional needs

  • Prepare teaching resources, displays, and classroom materials

  • Encourage positive behaviour and social development

  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime, as needed


Person Specification

Essential:

  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team

  • Basic proficiency in English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent)

  • Open to feedback and committed to ongoing learning and development

  • Patient, empathetic, and maintains a calm and positive approach

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children in a school, nursery, youth group, or similar setting

  • Awareness of safeguarding and child protection principles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
