Technology/Engineering Teacher
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
I am working with the head teacher of a partnership comprehensive school in the Caerphilly area who want to appoint a new Teacher of Technology on a full time, permanent basis. The role was due to start at Easter, following the early retirement of the current class teacher who will has had to leave the school a term early due to personal health reasons. Due to COVID-19, the post has been resheduled to start September 7th.
Please note, only candidates with a PGCE will be considered for this position. NQT's are also encouraged to apply.
• Design and Technology Role based in an comprehensive school in Caerphilly, close to the Gwent border
• Full time role (Monday – Friday)
• 127+ daily rate – will be negotiated as role encompasses full teaching duties as well as planning and marking
• September 7th Start date – contract will go permanent in January subject to satisfactory probation period between yourself and the school
• Easily accessible school and highly supportive SLT- you will be placed on all their training
The role is suitable for those with a speciality in Resistant Materials and Engineering. It will encompass a range of theoretical and practical exercises so teachers who are familiar with current software packages (or able to learn prior to position) are essential. You will report to the Head of Technology who oversees the small department and demands very good standards to support their highly achieving department. Your main focus will be on raising and maintaining standards for KS3 and 4 classes. There pupils are largely engaged and on track to achieve A*-B grades within design and technology – as with any school there will be occasional behavioural concerns, however, these are minor and the school has been commended by ESTYN for their good behaviour policy, attitudes to learning and the strength of their leadership team. However, all teachers at the school will be expected to demonstrate excellent classroom management and a commitment to ensuring that each pupil has the resources and encouragement needed to succeed. It is worth noting that the school is currently over-subscribed so class sizes are often larger than they would be in most secondary schools. As a result, support is in place to help manage the classroom where heavy machinery and equipment is in use.
The school is situated right next to main public transport links so despite being in a quiet area of Caerphilly, it is easily accessible and candidates from Cardiff and Newport have found it very easy to get there. There is a strong community feel within the school and it has an excellent reputation across South Wales. Generally teachers who find their feet within this school stay for the duration of their career.
Why Teaching Personnel?
We are the market leaders in education recruitment
Now more than ever, schools are looking towards education agencies as a way to help find the right candidates ready for September. Without the means to observe shortlisted candidates teach classes and introduce them to the faculty in conventional ways, we are working together to ensure the right people are in place to help repair some of the disruption caused by the pandemic. Teaching Personnel has remained in operation throughout the school closures in a mission to support our schools and staff during this uncertain phase. Due to established and some new and exciting relationships with partner schools we have been fortunate to gain exclusive insight into the roles schools are urgently trying to fill.
We sort the nitty gritty out for you
Following a phone interview and virtual meeting between ourselves, we will get all your vetting done behind the scenes while we set up video interviews between yourself and the school as well as providing you with constant support and help from application to placement and transition onto a permanent school contract.
• We specialise in Temporary to Permanent Contract Transitions between yourself and the school to make sure it is the right role for you
• Excellent rates of pay – We are on the Welsh Government Frame Work
• Referral Bonuses
• Access to CPD accredited courses
• Personal and dedicated consultative service who will be here for you every step of the way
The school wants to speak with suitable candidates immediately so applications should be sent as soon as possible.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
