Our client is a secondary and Post-16 special school for students who have a range of complex needs including moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. All have a statement of special educational needs. Over 40% of students also present with autistic spectrum conditions. The school uses a Total Communication approach, which includes use of Makaton Signing across the school to support communication.The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment, with a rich, balanced and relevant curriculum where we also teach personal and social skills, self help skills, how to manage emotions and how to plan for the future.

They support individuals to explore the world of work, further education and leisure; and how to balance any health, medical or therapy needs, when planning for their future. They encourage high realistic aspirations and support families and learners to realise these. They plan individualised progression routes through person centred planning.

Long Term opportunities are available, as well as short term supply assignments. If you have had experience of supporting children or adults with similar needs, either through personal experience or paid/voluntary work, please get in touch asap! Personal care is required in this school and so applicants must be comfortable with assisting to childrens needs.
