Teaching Assistant Vacancy

Teaching personnel have been asked by a specialist ASC centre to recruit an enthusiastic ABA experienced teaching assistant to join their centre.

Ideally you'll have experience teaching ASC children with a great manner of building relationships with both students and staff.

The students attend the school due to a diagnosis of Autism and many have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, disruptive behaviour disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, tics and Tourette syndrome, epilepsy and learning disabilities.

You must be confident and capable of supporting pupils who have problems with communication, toileting, eating or have sensory difficulties. You must be resilient and have the ability to work proactively with challenging behaviour (EBD).

The role is more challenging than mainstream schools, but the class sizes are smaller so you'll really have a great opportunity to make an impact on the children.

You must have experience in supporting children / adults with Autism or have a close personal connection to Autism. Candidates with Team Teach or experience in PECS and / or Makaton are highly sought after.

The centre has been known to appoint candidates who get on particularly well on a permanent basis, which is a real incentive to show off your skill sets!
