The head teacher of a Newport secondary school are looking to recruit a full time teaching assistant to work in their unit with students with SEN and challenging behaviour.
The position as a teaching assistant within this unit will be supporting students with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 or small group basis. Building up a rapport with the students is key to gaining their trust and respect to keep them focused on their learning. Using your initiative to stop any behavioural issues and deescalate any situations.
Experience as a teaching assistant is desirable but not essential as any experience working with children, SEN or in care will be considered. Knowledge of being around children and interacting with them is ideal, such as a sports coach through to children’s entertainer. The personality required to fulfil the position as a teaching assistant is reliable, calming, resilient and kind. Reliability is key for this position as the students supported will need the stability. A minimum of core GCSE’s is required.
The school is a secondary school in Newport which is located close to the M4 in a new building. It has outstanding facilities to work in and also
The pay for this position is GBP285 to GBP300 per week with the potential to go onto a permanent contract with the school for the right person.
Interviews for the teaching assistant position will be held throughout the half term in order to secure a place to start in November.
