Reception Teaching Assistant

Reception Teaching Assistant Role:

  • 1:1 and group support
  • Supervising children’s play time
  • Assisting children during meal and snack time
  • Encourage learning through play
  • Explore different areas of learning with the children
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils stay on task
  • Creating resources for lessons
  • Social and emotional support

The School:

This primary school is based in Newport and has 320 pupils on the roll including 56 nursery children. Pupils are taught in 12 classes, four of which are mixed age.  In the schools latest inspection ESTYN commented that pupils in the school show respect and good manner to each other, staff and visitor.  For example, pupils hold doors open for adults and are quick to give polite greeting in Welsh.
