EYFS Teaching Assistant

If you are looking for a full time EYFS Teaching Assistant position and you are available to work in the Preston area, this may be the perfect opportunity!

Here is a quick overview of the role specification;

Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification required (or equivalent)

Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Nursery or EYFS department

Recent experience supporting children with Autism on a one to one basis

The ability to work as part of a school team and add value in the Early Years department

Contribute to the wider school community and the wider working day through staff meetings and continuous professional development opportunities

The advertised role is to support an individual child with Autism on a 1:1 basis. You will work with the class teacher to develop he curriculum in order to meet the individual needs of the child and help them progress further in school. As the child’s needs are specific, the Head teacher and SENCO are looking for a candidate who has prior experience of PECs and visual timetables. The SENCO will be involved in some planning alongside the class teacher and ensure the support for the child adds value. Each term, the funding and outcomes will be reviewed by the school and by the Local Authority, this will then determine how long the child will receive additional SEN funding and also how long the successful candidate will be required in school.

The Head teacher is well known in the local area and has supported other schools in the last couple of years. The school are looking to add more support for children with special educational needs through tailored staffing solutions and by appointing this EYFS experienced Teaching Assistant the Head teacher is hoping the said child will gain communication skills as well as increased self-confidence.

The said child is on the Autism Spectrum, notably struggling with the basic communication and socialising with other children in class. The class teacher has already implemented a range of strategies to ensure the child is included in the working day. Other children are supportive and will kindly work with the said child in small grouped situations. There are no behavioural needs with the child and so it is not essential that you have prior experience working alongside children with these sorts of needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring teacher who is looking to gain more experience in a school environment. The school will also be happy to see applicants apply with experience in care settings. Likewise, the Head teacher is keen to see applicants from SEN school backgrounds.
