Pastoral Teaching Assistant – Dorchester

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in Dorchester to recruit a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support to students who require additional pastoral and behavioural guidance throughout the school day.

The Role

• Supporting students who need extra help to remain engaged in lessons
• Working with pupils who are sent out of class to provide structured support and reflection
• Collecting students from lessons and escorting them to appropriate support areas
• Building positive relationships to help students regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
• Working closely with pastoral staff, teachers, and safeguarding leads

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with young people in a pastoral, behavioural or support role (education, youth work, care, or similar)
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent way
• DBS on the Update Service preferred, but Teaching Personnel can support with a new DBS application
