Pastoral Teaching Assistant
Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Contract: Full-time – 5 days per week
Start Date: By agreement

We are pleased to be working with a supportive and inclusive school in Dorchester who are seeking a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, five days per week. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with students who may need additional emotional, behavioural or pastoral support to succeed in school.
The successful candidate will work with pupils who have been sent out of lessons or require short-term pastoral intervention, helping them to reflect, reset and re-engage positively with their learning.
The Role:
- Provide pastoral support for students outside the classroom
- Work with pupils who have been removed from lessons to support behaviour and emotional regulation
- Encourage positive choices, resilience and engagement
- Support students in reintegrating back into lessons successfully
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads and behaviour teams
- Maintain a calm, safe and supportive environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children or young people (education, care or youth work)
- Be patient, calm and resilient
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Be confident managing challenging situations in a supportive manner
- Be reliable and able to work 5 days per week
- Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
