Teaching Personnel is working closely with a warm, welcoming and well-supported primary school in the Wimborne area, seeking a dedicated TA to work with a KS1 pupil with SEN needs.

The successful candidate will support a young boy who can become dysregulated and distressed at times. The school has clear, effective strategies in place, and you will be guiding him through these. His coping mechanisms include spending time outside, using hoops, and engaging in distraction or regulation activities to help him feel calm and safe. We are looking for someone patient, nurturing, and confident in using positive behaviour approaches.

The role:

  • Supporting emotional regulation using agreed strategies (e.g., outdoor play, hoops, distraction techniques)
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Full-time school hours, Monday–Friday
  • Paid to scale, depending on experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs (preferred)
  • Is calm, nurturing and proactive in moments of dysregulation
  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is committed to helping children thrive both emotionally and academically
  • Enjoys being part of a friendly, supportive school community

What the school can offer:

  • A genuinely supportive and welcoming team
  • Clear strategies and guidance when supporting the pupil
  • Ongoing support from experienced staff and the SENCo
  • Opportunities for continued professional development
  • A chance to make a real, lasting difference to a child’s school experience
