Job Description:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have special educational needs, supporting them in their learning journey both inside and outside the classroom. You will assist the class teacher in delivering tailored interventions and creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Your role will involve working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to achieve their best.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual or small group support for students with a range of special educational needs, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and physical disabilities.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Support students with their social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Monitor students’ progress, provide feedback to teachers, and contribute to the development of individual learning plans.
- Collaborate with other professionals (SENCO, external agencies) to provide a holistic approach to supporting students.
- Promote positive behavior and ensure that students are engaged and motivated in their learning.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN training) would be advantageous but is not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
