Teaching Assistant for SEMH - Key Stage 2 Challenging Behaviour

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEND school in Sunderland who are seeking a behaviour support assistant on a full time basis, to commence as soon as possible.

The role will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with students across Key Stage 2; the students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily for their literacy, numeracy and science lessons. The main element of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of staff to manage and track pupil’s behaviour and learning. You will be supporting students who display social, emotional and mental health difficulties who may display behaviour such as social anxiety and ADHD.

Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour. The client school welcomes candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates although a Teaching Assistant qualification may be beneficial. Teaching Personnel can offer behaviour support assistant’s competitive pay rates of up to GBP65 per day, for the right candidate longer term rates can be negotiated on your behalf. This role will commence as soon as possible on a full time basis through school hours.
