A primary school in Barry are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to start full time in February 2021.
The Learning Support Assistant will be supporting a male pupil in Year 3 class with additional learning needs (ALN) who can become easily distracted, the child is a looked after child who can also display challenging behaviour so requires someone with patience and a nurturing personality.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will –
- Ideally have experience working with children with additional learning needs or challenging behaviour.
- Have a patient and nurturing
- Be able to use their own initiative
- Be committed to the role and ensure the pupil has the support required.
- Be able to build a good rapport with pupils, parents and staff
- Have a child workforce DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for a new one)
- Register with the Education Workforce Council
- Be able to provide two professional or character references
The school
Currently there are 297 pupils on roll and the nursery provides 25 places for each half day session. The large fields offer a wonderful opportunity to enhance the children's learning by supporting aspects of the curriculum. The children have plenty of space to enjoy different sporting activities during the day and as part of the extensive after school clubs on offer. The school work hard to promote and foster a love of learning and encourage the pupils to strive to reach their full potential. Their aim is to nurture a caring and positive attitude in all children, giving them the skills and opportunities to develop into successful young people. This is achieved through setting high expectations for everyone.
The Learning Support Assistant role will be ongoing until the end of the academic year and with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
The school hours are 8:30am-3:30pm with a half hour lunch break.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
