Support Worker (Sports Background Preferred) – 1:1 KS2 SEMH Support
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Until the end of the academic year
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Worker to work 1:1 with a KS2 pupil who has Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is based in a supportive primary school and will run for the remainder of the academic year, starting as soon as possible.
We are particularly interested in applicants with a background or strong interest in sports, as physical activity and structured routines play a key part in the pupil’s daily support plan.
Role Responsibilities:
• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs
• Use sport, movement and practical activities to help regulate behaviour and encourage engagement
• Support with emotional regulation, confidence-building and positive behaviour strategies
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow and adapt support plans
• Maintain clear boundaries and build a trusting, positive rapport
• Encourage participation in learning while using de-escalation and restorative approaches
Requirements:
• Experience working with children with SEMH or additional needs (school or community setting)
• Background, training or strong interest in sport, coaching or physical activity
• Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent
• Resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviour
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
