The Headteacher at a large mixed comprehensive secondary school, located in the Worsley region of Salford wishes to appoint an ambitious, passionate and skilful Teacher of Science, on a full-time basis from October 2019 or earlier.

If you are seeking an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming staff team, with a positive 'can do' attitude and a genuine passion for bringing out the best in young people, this Teacher of Science role may be ideal for you. This post is suitable for both experienced practitioners and those in the early stages of their career as relevant support will be provided for the successful candidate.

  • Full-time Teacher of Science, commencing October 2019 or earlier.
  • Must hold QTS alongside degree level qualification in any discipline (Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
  • Applications are urged from both experienced and newly qualified teachers as full induction support will be provided for the successful post-holder.
  • Opportunity to work within a welcoming staff team, located in the Worsley region of Salford, easily accessible via the M60/A580 (East Lancashire Road).
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £24, 373 - £40, 490.

The Head of Science along with SLT are seeking a vibrant practitioner, with personality and conscientious, sharing good practice with all members of the school community. The Science department covers a broad curriculum, covering detailed topics in depth to promote a genuine enjoyment for the teaching and learning of Science.

There has also been a recent refurbishment within the department with a brand new state of the art prep room, 5 new laboratories and open plan learning spaces with access to modern resources.

As the incoming Teacher of Science your responsibilities may include but will not be limited to;

  • Plan, resource and deliver dynamic Science lessons to the highest standard, ensuring pupils have the tools required to make rapid sustainable progress.
  • Plan and prepare effective teaching schemes and lessons in line with national curriculum and schemes of work.
  • Use regular assessments in order to assess and set targets for pupils to monitor progress and respond accordingly.

The secondary school has just over 1000 pupils currently enrolled aged 11- 16 and is easily accessible via the M60/A580 (East Lancashire Road) and the surrounding areas; Bolton, Bury, Trafford and Wigan. There are also numerous public transport options readily available with links across Greater Manchester.
