Teacher of Music - Preston

Start: April 2019

End: TBC, 3 days per week (0.6FTE) with a view to it becoming permanent.

Interviews Commencing: 4th March

The role:

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a talented and creative Teacher of Music to join a small secondary school in a village in Preston. The students come from a wide catchment area, and have various feeder schools. There are great transport links surround the school, as it's based on a main bus route, as well as on site parking.

"There is a strong team of staff across the school - all staff, not just teachers. They are incredibly supportive of each other, both in a personal and professional sense. Lesson planning is often shared and cross - department sharing of expertise is also common. "

Overview of responsibilities:

  • To plan, prepare and evaluate courses and lessons.
  • To teach students according to their ability, enabling them to achieve their potential
  • To teach, students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in school and elsewhere.
  • To assess record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
  • To apply the Behaviour management systems so that effective learning can take place.
  • To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example.

Essential:

  • Degree in relevant subject
  • QTS in relevant subject
  • Good subject knowledge
  • ICT Literate

Desired:

  • Sense to seek promotion
  • Sense of humour
  • Knowledge of skills, qualities etc. developed within other associated subjects
