An expanding secondary school in Portsmouth are looking for a skilled an experienced Design Technology Teacher to join them for September 2019

The school has high expectations for all and aims to inspire its students to achieve their best throughout their time at the school.

The school has been working hard in collaboration with its academy trust to improve behaviour within the school in order for focus to be upon achievement and aspirations of the pupils. This has allowed staff to focus on their teaching and allow its pupils to access all areas of the curriculum.

What the school can offer you:

  • Modern facilities across many of its departments due to recent expansion of the school. With building continuing in the new academic year, the school will continue to update its classroom spaces and modern technology that is incorporated into learning
  • The well being of staff is important to the school with strategies in place to regularly participate in activities with co-workers and friends on site including reading groups and the chance to take part in sporting activities
  • Teachers within the school are provided with adequate PPA time to ensure they are properly prepared for their subjects and that marking can be completed within school time
  • The school has worked hard on its behaviour policy with Ofsted (2017) noting that the 'correct steps were being taken to ensure pupils conduct is appropriate in and around the school'
  • As an academy trust, the school can provide excellent support within the trust from its experienced teachers and SLT across the site to ensure best practice is shared and improved upon to allow students to flourish

What you will need to be successful:

  • Qualified Teacher with UK QTS - with experience in either Design Technology/Art
  • Experience in planning and marking across the Key Stages
  • Excellent subject knowledge - across multiple disciplinaries would be desirable
  • Be a great motivator to pupils
  • Be an excellent role model to all pupils and staff
  • Have great enthusiasm for your subject
