Autism Specialist required for SEN School in Bradford

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Conditions in a specialist school in Bradford. Situated close to the Daisy Hill area, the school is easily accessible by both car and public transport from the city centre and surrounding areas.

A generic special school for pupils aged 2-19, the school are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils on the Autism Spectrum. You will be required to work across school with a specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of autistic students; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring behaviour; documenting activities and progress; and supporting students' EHCP goals.

You will have a solid understanding and experience of meeting the needs of individuals with Autism Spectrum Conditions within a specialist setting and ideally will also possess training in the following:

  • Intensive Interaction
  • Team Teach
  • TEACHH
  • Visual Supports/Social Stories
  • SPELL
  • Applied Behaviour Analysis

It will be your role support ASC students to access the curriculum through delivering targeted 1:1 interventions and providing whole class support. You will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to liaise with Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Parents/Carers, and Educational Psychologists. You will have previous experience of working with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and of accurate monitoring of progress under the instruction of a class teacher.
