SEN Teaching Assistant LE12

Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a LE12 Special Independent school for boys and girls aged 6 to 17. This SEN Provision is specifically for pupils with ASD, Moderate Learning Difficulties and SEMH- Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Understanding of young people experiencing social and emotional issues
  • Knowledge that attachment disorder exists
  • Some knowledge of autism
  • GCSE A*-C in English & Maths or equivalent
  • Evidence of being a continual learner and undertaking further study as an adult
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding young people
  • Team-Teach trained

Desirable...

  • Previous role in or study of people with mental health issues
  • Specialist knowledge of attachment disorder
  • Personal or professional knowledge of autism
  • Vocational qualifications relevant to the role
  • Have recognised signs & indicators of abuse in past and taken appropiate action
  • Willingess to undertake courses
  • Ability to use initiative and assess risk on ongoing basis
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues well
  • Like young people and see the best in them
  • Positive nature
  • Sense of humour

  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance
  • Ability to manage change and adapt to unexpected demands
