SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working alongside a School that provides education for boys and girls who have additional learning needs such as the acquisition of numeracy and literacy skills. Most have failed to thrive in their previous educational settings. Some have developmental disorders such as ASD/ Tourette's.

Currently, 21 boys and two girls attend aged between 10 and 18 years and nearly all have statements of special educational needs. The school is located on six sites offering different environments, from a cosy cottage to a nature reserve.

Because of the pupils varying needs, it is essential you have experience working with pupils that have special educational needs and have an excellent understanding of Autism.

As a Learning Support Worker, you will:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups, promote pupil's social and emotional development and respond effectively to behaviour
  • Provide support for learning activities and support literacy and numeracy activities for children with a wide range and severity of special and additional needs appropriately and effectively in a range of different settings
  • Contribute to maintaining pupil records, observing and reporting on pupil performance, and contributing to the planning and evaluation of learning activities

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
