Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
About the Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Poulton-le-Fylde. This setting supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a tailored curriculum designed to overcome barriers and promote success.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, fostering a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth and learning. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of young people facing challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, structured support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the delivery of a bespoke curriculum tailored to individual learning requirements.
- Implement and support behaviour management strategies effectively.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor and report on student progress.
- Support students in developing social skills and coping mechanisms.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance support strategies.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
