Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

About the Role

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Poulton-le-Fylde. This setting supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a tailored curriculum designed to overcome barriers and promote success.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, fostering a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth and learning. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of young people facing challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, structured support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of a bespoke curriculum tailored to individual learning requirements.
  • Implement and support behaviour management strategies effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Support students in developing social skills and coping mechanisms.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance support strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not required.
