Behaviour Mentor – Chorley
Pay: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Contract: Temp to Perm

A specialist provision in Chorley is currently looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join their team, supporting pupils aged 5 to 11 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone with a calm, patient approach who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people.

The provision caters to pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support in order to succeed in their education. Pupils are supported in small class groups with a high staff-to-pupil ratio, and the team works collaboratively to provide a nurturing and structured environment.

The successful candidate will have experience working with challenging behaviour, either in a school, care, or youth work setting. Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to build trusting relationships are essential. Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation techniques is beneficial but not essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils in managing their behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Assisting with learning activities and encouraging positive engagement.
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver personalised support.

This is a full-time position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The setting places a strong emphasis on professional development and offers ongoing training and support.
