Casual Teaching Assistant
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Ad Hoc Basis)
Location: Accrington
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are looking for Casual Teaching Assistants to support students within a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Accrington. This role involves working with children who may display challenging behaviour, so confidence and resilience are key.

This is an ad hoc position, offering flexibility around your availability, with hours typically between 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term time only.

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, particularly those with experience in:

  • The Armed Forces

  • Police or emergency services

  • Sports coaching

  • Support work or care roles

These roles bring transferable skills that are invaluable in supporting young people with SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in managing emotions and behaviour

  • Assisting in delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Working closely with teaching staff and other support professionals

  • Maintaining a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Confidence working with children who display challenging behaviour

  • A calm, patient and supportive approach

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • A background in education or a related field is helpful, but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
