AUTISM SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANTS
Do you have experience of supporting pupils with SEN, in particular with Autism? Do you have experience working within students on a 1:1 basis?
Are you confident in working with children who have challenging behaviour and limited communication?
If so, then we have the perfect roles for you!
We are currently recruiting for one of our client SEND schools located in the Nottingham City area who are looking to recruit a learning support assistant on a temporary basis to cover a long-term absence. The suitable candidate must have recent experience of working with students with a range of SEN, either primary or secondary age range. You will be working with pupils aged 5 – 19 years so must be versatile across all age groups.
Your day will be varied, supporting children in the classroom, and assisting with communication, behaviour and sensory support needs. There may be some personal care requirements for some more vulnerable and complex pupils.
What is required from you:
- Teaching assistant qualification, educational based degree or at least 6 months experience working with children who present with Special Educational Needs
- Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour
- Experienced working within a school environment, ideally an SEN school provision
- Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills
- Can provide 2 references which can comment on your ability to work with children
- Have a calm, nurturing approach with clear expectations
- Be confident building positive relationships with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them progress both socially and academically
- Must have, or be willing to apply for a Child Workforce Only DBS, which is on the update service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
