Teaching Personnel is on the hunt for the next group of Teaching Assistants to support and nurture students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These needs can include—but are not limited to—frustration, anger, verbal or physical threats, aggressive behaviour, uncooperativeness in the classroom, anxiety, depression, and other mental health diagnoses, as well as frequent emotional outbursts. Patience, understanding, and compassion are key within this role. You will be working with children aged 5 to 16 and will play a pivotal role in creating a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.
Position Details
- Start Date – Immediate, continuing through to the end of the academic year
- Working Hours – 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary depending on the school)
- Schedule – Monday to Friday, term time only (part-time and full-time options available)
- Location – Bristol (BS area)
- Potential to transition to a contract with the school for the right candidate (if desired)
What You’ll Do:
- Support the classroom teacher in delivering the school’s curriculum and assist student learning in small groups or one-on-one
- Work alongside a team of teaching assistants to provide tailored support for 8 to 10 students per classroom
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with students, aiding in both their emotional and academic development
- Ensure that every student feels welcomed, safe, and motivated when working with you in the academic setting
Who We’re Looking For:
- A passionate individual looking to begin or continue a career in education
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Industry experience is not essential, but dedication and determination to thrive are non-negotiable
- Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour, whether personal or professional, is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
