Teaching Personnel is currently looking for the next set of teaching assistants to begin their journey in the upcoming academic year starting in September. You will support and nurture students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), which can include, but is not limited to: emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD, communication challenges, anxiety, depression, medical needs, and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Understanding, empathy, and patience are essential qualities for this role. You will work with students aged between 5 and 16, playing a pivotal role in creating a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: September (continuing throughout the academic year)
  • Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary depending on the school)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, term time only (part-time and full-time options available)
  • Location: Bristol (BS)
  • Potential to transition to a contract with the school for the right candidate (if desirable)

Requirements:

  • A child-only DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two proofs of address
  • References from the last two working years

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering the curriculum, assisting students with learning—either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
  • Work closely with a team of teaching assistants to provide tailored support to students in classrooms of between 8 and 10 pupils
  • Develop strong and trusting relationships with students to create a positive working environment where they can thrive
  • Build trusting relationships with students, ensuring they feel welcomed in your presence and are motivated to perform at their best
  • Foster professional relationships with fellow teaching staff in your classroom and across the school

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Someone with a genuine passion for education who is looking to begin or continue their career in the sector
  • Strong behavioural management and communication skills
  • Experience is not essential—as long as you have the passion and determination, we’d love to talk to you!
  • Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour (either professional or personal) is desirable, but not essential
