Teaching personnel are currently recruiting its next group of teaching assistants for the 2025/2026 school year, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will support and nurture a class of students who have special educational needs (SEN) which can include students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD, communication challenges, anxiety, depression, medical needs, and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. These factors make understanding, empathy and patience non negotiables within this role. You will support students aged anywhere between 5 and 16, and you will play a vital part in their academic careers
Position details
- September 2025 start date
- Location – Bristol
- Working hours – 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary depending on the school)
- Monday – Friday, term time only
- Opportunity to transition to a permanent contract with the school, for the right candidates
What you’ll do
- Support students with SEN needs either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
- Work closely with other teaching assistant to support the learning of a small classroom of students
- Build trusting relationships with the students you work closely with, ensuring they feel safe and can thrive in the academic environment you help create
- Assist with the learning and development of your classroom students, by supporting with work contents when and where possible
The ideal candidate
- Someone with a genuine passion for working in the classroom environment, looking to start or continue their career in this sector.
- Strong behavioural management and communication skills.
- Experience isn't essential, as long as you have the passion and drive to be successful in this work. We'd love to hear from you!
- Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour, either personally or professionally, is desirable, but not a necessity.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
