1-1 Teaching Assistant - Part Time Mornings - North Somerset

Location: North Somerset
Start date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30 to 12:00, Monday to Friday (occasional afternoons may be required)
Pay: £13.85 to £16.15 per hour, paid weekly
Contract: Part Time, Half Days
A lovely, welcoming primary school in North Somerset is looking for a 1-1 Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is a rewarding role working closely with a child with additional needs in KS2. The school is warm and inclusive with strong community values and a supportive staff team who will help you settle in and develop in the role.
There is parking available on site.
The role:
- Provide dedicated 1-1 support to a child with additional needs throughout the morning
- Support learning, communication and engagement in class activities
- Help the child build confidence and develop social skills with their peers
- Encourage positive behaviour and create a calm, supportive environment
- Work closely with the class teacher and any external professionals involved in the child's care
- Be available for the occasional afternoon when needed
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly
Who this role would suit:
We are keen to hear from people with experience in child focused roles such as:
- Teaching Assistant or learning support assistant
- After school club or holiday camp leader
- Sports coaching for children or youth teams
- Swimming instructor, dance teacher or drama leader for children
- Youth group leader, scout or guide volunteer or similar roles
- Support worker or carer for children with additional needs
These backgrounds show you can build strong relationships, communicate clearly, stay patient under pressure and adapt to individual needs.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about supporting young learners and making a real difference
- Patient, caring and enthusiastic with strong people skills
- Reliable, calm and happy to work closely with one child
- Confident supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
