Teaching Personnel | Full-Time & Part-Time | Immediate Start

SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN TA / Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant – SEN

Teaching Personnel are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants and experienced Teaching Assistants to work in SEN schools and specialist provisions across Bristol and surrounding areas including BS9, BS10, BS11, BS13 and BS24.

We have immediate vacancies available and can place candidates as soon as vetting is completed. Both full-time and part-time roles are available.


Job Description – SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), working either 1:1 or in small groups.

The majority of roles involve supporting pupils with:

  • Autism (ASD)
  • High-functioning SEN
  • Challenging behaviour

These roles require patience, resilience, and a genuine interest in working within the SEN sector.

Working hours:

  • Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Some schools 8:00am – 3:00pm

SEN Teaching Assistant – Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel
    • Child & Adult DBS accepted
  • Provide a minimum of 2 references covering the last 24 months
  • Complete online safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel)

Desirable Experience (Not Essential)

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • SEN schools or SEN units
  • Mainstream schools with SEN pupils
  • Care or residential settings
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • College or FE settings
  • Personal coaching or support work

Any additional SEN, SEND, or additional needs qualifications are highly desirable.
