SEN Teaching Assistant - Shaw - September Start

  • SEN Teaching Assistant Required to Offer 1:1 Support to EYFS child
  • Experience Supporting Children With Special Educational Needs is Essential

A client school in Shaw (OL2) are looking for a supportive Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class supporting a child with a learning disability on a 1:1 basis. This school prides itself on having a 'culture of excellence' and has established a safe and supportive environment. Children are very well behaved and are very welcoming to visitors.

The successful individual is required to:

  • Establish a supportive relationship
  • Clarify and explain instructions
  • Motivate and encouraging the child as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to their needs
  • Assisting in weaker areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, phonics, handwriting/presentation etc
  • Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage them to concentrate and stay on task

About the role:

  • September Start date
  • Working 1:1 with a KS1 pupil with a learning disability
  • Based in a Reception class
  • Full time and on a long term basis
  • Possibility to become permanent if agreed by Head teacher
  • Giving accurate handovers to the Teacher and/or carers of the child at the end of your day

Please apply if you have:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils
  • Experience with Phonics schemes
  • Enthusiasm and passion for education
  • Proven confident and engaging interaction with children
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
