PERMANENT POSITION AVAILABLE IN SWANAGE!

About the school:

A 38 and 52-week mixed-gender residential school for students aged 7-19 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and associated difficulties. Day provision is available for students who live close by.

They offer access to the National Curriculum using modified or differentiated programmes of study, where appropriate and provide vocational training and further education opportunities. Drawing upon their proven expertise in specialist education and 24-hour care, they focus on the development of personal, social, communication and living skills. A multi-disciplinary team and high staff ratios ensure intensive individual support.

About the role:

  • SEN Teacher
  • Permanent position
  • Full time position
  • Planning and delivering work and resources
  • Differentiating lesson plans to suit the needs of the students in your class
  • Monitoring and reporting on behaviour, social skills and academic progress
  • Working in small class sizes with the support of experienced Teaching Assistants

Interviews are to take place after Christmas with the aim to start in the Spring term, however the school may offer an earlier start date if they find the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has QTS
  • Has extensive Autism experience
  • Has experience with non-verbal students and ideally Makaton, PECS or other communication aids
  • Is knowledgeable in how to support children with complex needs and some challenging behaviour
  • Is confident to work with specific sensory difficulties 
  • Is experienced teaching the Primary curriculum with a particular focus on Early Years and play based education.
  • Has additional qualifications and CPD in Autism Awareness or any other relevant course

The school is not easily access by public transport so it would be beneficial for you to drive if you do not live in the area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
