SEND Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A highly reputable and award-winning group of specialist schools is seeking a passionate and skilled SEND Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at their Wakefield setting. The successful candidate will join a dedicated, collaborative team committed to enabling every learner to reach their fullest potential through innovative, individualised teaching approaches in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

• Support students with a range of SEND, including but not limited to ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties.

• Create an inclusive, positive classroom culture where all learners feel safe, valued, and motivated.

• Work closely with specialist staff, therapists, and parents/carers to develop effective individual education plans (IEPs).

• Contribute to the wider life of the school, promoting enrichment, independence, and social development.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

• Experience of teaching pupils with SEND in specialist or mainstream settings.

• Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated learning.

• Ability to adapt quickly and creatively to meet individual needs.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

• Additional qualifications in SEND or related specialisms.

• Experience with alternative communication methods, sensory integration, or therapeutic approaches.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
