SEND Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
A highly reputable and award-winning group of specialist schools is seeking a passionate and skilled SEND Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at their Wakefield setting. This organisation has an outstanding track record of delivering exceptional education and support for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated, collaborative team committed to enabling every learner to reach their fullest potential through innovative, individualised teaching approaches in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, deliver and assess high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

Support students with a range of SEND, including but not limited to ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties.

Create an inclusive, positive classroom culture where all learners feel safe, valued, and motivated.

Work closely with specialist staff, therapists, and parents/carers to develop effective individual education plans (IEPs).
-
Contribute to the wider life of the school, promoting enrichment, independence, and social development.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

Experience of teaching pupils with SEND in specialist or mainstream settings.

Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated learning.
-
Ability to adapt quickly and creatively to meet individual needs.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
-
Additional qualifications in SEND or related specialisms.
-
Experience with alternative communication methods, sensory integration, or therapeutic approaches.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
