An award-winning and highly reputable Special Educational Needs (SEN) School Group, known for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and student-centred learning, is seeking UK-experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join the permanent staff list of one of their Ofsted rated GOOD schools in Wakefield. This group is celebrated for its nurturing environment, inclusive ethos, and dedication to empowering every child to achieve their full potential.

The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored educational support to pupils with a variety of SEN needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team dedicated to making a genuine difference in children’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.

  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Support teaching staff in creating inclusive and engaging classroom environments.

  • Use a variety of strategies to promote learning, independence, and positive behaviour.

  • Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive learning atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Previous UK-based experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (essential).

  • Strong understanding of a range of SEN needs, such as ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers.

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children.

  • A relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).

  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK and hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
