Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Trained)
Salary: GBP60 - GBP80 per day
Location: Leeds (LS8)
Start date: 4th January 2021 (full time) until July 2021, with the opportunity of a potential permanent contract (temp to perm position)
Our Primary branch here at Teaching Personnel are currently working closely with a well established primary school in the Leeds who are in need of temporary, full time SEN Support Assistant to work alongside a child in Year 4 who has recently been diagnosed with Autism.
Candidates applying for this role must have a Team Teach qualification or, be happy to complete the Team Teach Qualification through Teaching Personnel.
This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, residential support workers and experienced individuals who are passionate about working in a primary school supporting children with Autism and additional needs.
Your duties will include:
- Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher
- Building up rapport between yourself and the pupil
- Managing the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
- Supporting the child both in and out of the classroom
- Working with the SENCo
- Managing the child's behaviour
- Working with the child's Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
- Working in collaboration with other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and other health care professionals.
To apply for this position, you will need:
- Recent experience of working in a mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting
- A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils
- An approachable and positive attitude
- Hold relevant qualifications
- Ideally Team Teach Trained or other relevant training
- Be confident in working on a 1:1 basis
- Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one
