A specialist SEN School in Sevenoaks are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time, long term basis. The school caters for pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of Special Educational Needs.
It will be your role to complement the professional work of teachers and others by undertaking work / care / support programmes, which enable access to learning for pupils and assist in the management of pupils and the classroom. As a Teaching Assistant it ill be your role to support pupils in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. You will also make decisions using your initiative within established working practices and procedures.
You will be expected to use good common sense and initiative in all matters relating to:
- the conduct and behaviour of individuals, groups of pupils and whole classes
- the correct use and care of materials by individual and small groups of pupils
- the safety, mobility and hygiene and well being of the pupils
The successful candidate will assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans and Personal Care programmes (including meeting personal care and medical interventions needs of pupils). You will be required to work with pupils of any age within the age-range of the school and to work with pupils with the full range of SEN within the school.
You must be able to travel to the Sevenoaks area by car or public transport.
Musts:
• Be able to work from 8.30am-15.30pm weekdays
• A child only workforce DBS on the update service or willing to pay for a new child only DBS (£44) and then subscribe to the update service (£13)
• Minimum C in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
