SEN ASD Teaching Assistant - Ilford (September Start)

A junior primary school based in Ilford are looking for an SEN Primary ASD Teaching assistant. There are 3 children who require a teaching assistant - year groups are from Year 3 to Year 6, as this is a junior school.

All the pupils have an Educational Health Care Plan with a diagnosis of ASD (autism). Some of the pupils may have associated difficulties e.g. medical, learning and sensory. No single approach or method is used in the school; they use a range of established autism specific approaches and methods, depending on the needs of the learners. These include; Attention autism, Aspects of TEACCH, SPELL, PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Sensory integration and Social Stories.

The supportive school provide extensive training and progression for the SEN Primary ASD Teaching assistants, which will advance your qualifications and experience working with Special Educational Needs.

Qualifications

Good numeracy/literacy skills

NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent

First aid training as appropriate

You must be eligible to work in the UK, or eligible to apply for a relevant work visa.

Safeguarding, quality and professionalism is at the heart of what we do, therefore, we require you to attend a face to face interview, reference checks and an enhanced DBS disclosure.
