Your ability to build trust, use behaviour strategies, and provide calm, structured support will be essential to their success.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 tuition in core subjects such as English or Maths, with a trauma-informed approach
- Support pupils in agreed locations (homes, libraries, community spaces) where they feel safe
- Encourage engagement and rebuild confidence through positive reinforcement
- Use behaviour management techniques and emotional regulation strategies
- Set small, achievable goals to help learners gain momentum and routine
We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, PRUs or alternative provision settings
- Strong classroom or behaviour management techniques
- Understanding of how mental health impacts learning and engagement
- Resilient, calm and non-judgmental attitude
- A commitment to relational, student-centred support
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – we can assist)
- Right to work in the UK
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
Why Join TP Tutors?
- £25–£35 per hour (PAYE – no umbrella deductions)
- Flexible, local opportunities tailored to your expertise
- Ongoing CPD, including training in trauma-informed practice and behaviour support
- Regular contact with a dedicated consultant specialising in SEMH placements
- The chance to change the trajectory of a learner who needs a second chance
