SEMH Teaching Assistant- Manchester- Team- Teach

  • - Are you an experienced teaching assistant with extensive SEMH experience?
  • - Are you seeking a new challenge working in a Pupil Referral unit?
  • - Do you want the opportunity to access specialist training such as: Team- Teach?

Teaching personnel is currently working in partnership with a PRU in Manchester who are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to start in September 2017. Initially, the position is temporary; however there could be an opportunity for permanent for the right candidate.

The role will involve implementing the appropriate interventions in order to support pupils with SEMH in achieving their optimal potential. The main aim of the setting is to integrate pupils back into mainstream; however this is not always possible. In this setting challenging behaviours and aggressive outbursts may be likely, therefore it is important for the teaching to be strong willed and have experience dealing with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour.

Due to the specific needs of pupils the ideal teaching assistant will have:

- Experience within a special school or PRU

- A Team- Teach qualification (desirable)

- A level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification

- Experience working with pupils with SEHM
