SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Bootle, Liverpool

Location: Bootle, Liverpool
Start Date: 3rd November 2025
Contract: Full-time, Long-term until July 2026
Pay: £13.75 – £14.55 per hour

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bootle is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team this October. This is a unique opportunity to inspire, encourage, and empower pupils who need that extra support to thrive both emotionally and academically.


The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Help children develop emotional regulation, social skills, and confidence.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions.

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that promotes positive choices.

  • Support behaviour management while encouraging growth and independence.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs.

  • Show empathy, resilience, and consistency in their approach.

  • Confidently use behaviour strategies and emotional support plans.

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

  • Hold relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA) – desirable but not essential. We provide TEAM TEACH training!
