SEMH Specialist – Primary School – Croxteth

Location: Croxteth, Liverpool
Start Date: October 2025
Contract: Full-time, Temporary

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour depending on experience

 

An inclusive and welcoming primary school in Croxteth is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Specialist to join their staff team this October. This is a temporary, full-time role, ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing educational environment.

The school, which wishes to remain anonymous, prides itself on its strong pastoral care, supportive staff culture, and commitment to giving every child the best opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face. As part of the school’s wider SEND support strategy, the successful candidate will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing 1:1 or small group interventions tailored to individual SEMH needs.

 

You’ll collaborate with the school’s SENCo, class teachers, and external agencies to deliver targeted support, monitor progress, and help children regulate their emotions, engage positively with learning, and thrive both socially and academically.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting
  • A nurturing, calm, and patient approach to behaviour management
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in adapting support strategies to individual needs
  • A background in education, youth work, or psychology (desirable but not essential)
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
