SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) Support Teaching Assistant

Salary: £54 - £65 per day

Location: Bodmin

Our Specialist SEN and SEMH branch here at Teaching Personnel are currently working very closely with a well established SEMH school in the Bodmin area who specialise in providing an adapted curriculum for children who have social, emotional and mental health needs. The School are in need of temporary, full time and part time teaching assistants to work with pupils with a variety of needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates, youth workers, Sports coaches, residential support workers and experienced individuals who are passionate about working with SEN or SEMH children.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher.
  • Supporting children within the class.
  • Building up rapport between yourself and the pupils.
  • Managing the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Working with small groups of 1-2-1.
  • Working in collaboration with other professionals such and external agencies.

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Recent experience of working in a Mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
  • A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils.
  • An approachable and positive attitude.
  • Hold relevant qualifications.
  • Ideally Team Teach Trained. (Not essential)
  • Be confident in working with small groups and 1:1.
  • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
