Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Wakefield (WF3) who is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with the ability to effectively manage very challenging and extreme behaviour. This role is to start after February Term and will be on a casual day-to-day basis.

The PRU caters for secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schooling due to Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. This alternative provision offers positive outcomes for young people who have disengaged, or are at the point of disengaging with education.

The ideal Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) must have a strong and confident personality in order to effectively manage and deescalate challenging and extreme behaviour. Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a sound understanding of Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and meeting the holistic needs of all learners. The successful candidate will have at least 3 months experience working in specialist schools such as Pupil Referral Units (PRU) or alternative provisions.

You may also be considered for this role if you have previous experience supporting within a school or other child related experience. You must have strong behaviour management and be extremely confident when presented with challenging behaviour. Team Teach is desired but will be offered as a CPD course to the successful candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
