Science Technician

Science Technician – Secondary School – High Peak Area – September 2025 Start
Do you have a background in science and a desire to support practical learning in schools?
Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the High Peak areafor a Science Technician, to start in September 2025. This full-time, term-time position is ideal for someone with a science qualification or laboratory experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to enable high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Duties:
-
Prepare equipment, materials and resources for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
-
Assist teaching staff in demonstrations and during practical sessions where needed
-
Maintain the science laboratories, ensuring they are clean, safe, and well-stocked
-
Conduct routine checks on equipment and manage the safe storage and disposal of chemicals
-
Ensure health and safety guidelines (e.g. COSHH) are adhered to at all times
-
Keep records of stock levels and liaise with suppliers to order resources when required
Candidate Requirements:

A qualification in science or experience working in a school lab/technical environment
-
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
-
Awareness of health and safety practices in laboratory settings
-
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
-
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently under guidance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
