Pastoral Mentor

We are an outstanding college in Leyland seeking to appoint a Pastoral Mentor on a full-time basis from ASAP.

-    Value each student as an individual and provide the support, guidance and care to enable them to achieve their maximum potential.
-    Deliver exemplary, high quality tutorials and individualised one to one achievement coaching meetings which focus on maximising academic progress.
-    Contribute to the development of the Personal Tutorial curriculum.
-    Identify and systematically disseminate good practice in personal tutorial lessons.
-    Work with staff and students on the identification, support and discipline of 'at risk' students.
-    Ability to work flexibly across college 16 - 19 study programmes.
-    Identify, track, monitor and support any students who are not making sufficient academic performance/progression. This may include: non-attendance to timetabled lessons, participation with GCSE lessons, poor academic performance, not meeting their minimum target grade (MTG) or not meeting high expectations for behaviour and respect.
-    Maintain appropriate records of all interventions and provide statistics, reports etc. as required.
-    Deliver enrichment and enhancement activities, including accompanying students on external visits if required.
-    Be up to date in communication strategies and student management.
-    Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as required.
-    Work with teachers, Heads of Studies, Heads of School, Student Services and student support staff to develop and maintain high quality student support strategies.
-    Ensure appropriate uptake and timely recording of additional support.
-    Work closely with the other Pastoral Mentors to ensure standardisation of the student experience, jointly providing cover and developing strategies to add value to teaching and learning.
-    Advise students on progression opportunities in and outside of college; signpost them to our Student Services IAG advisors.
-    Be actively involved in the safeguarding of students.
-    Manage the retention, attendance, punctuality and behaviour of your students.

Rate of pay is GBP9.50 p/h, working a minimum of 6 hours per day. This role is to start immediately and is on-going until Feb half term, at least. With a view to continuing.
