Are you an NQT/ECT looking for a position within education? As an NQT/ECT did you know that you can work as a Supply Teacher in your local area? We work with secondary schools across Teesside seeking additional staff on an ad-hoc basis.

Working as a supply teacher opens endless possibilities of opportunity. Not only does it give you the opportunity to demonstrate your worth as a teacher, without having to go through interview processes, it is a rightly respected and essential part of the smooth running of the education system. Getting a foot in the door with supply work is also a great way to secure a long term or permanent role for next term!

Teaching Personnel is not only able to off you a flexible approach to your career that offers variety and challenge, we also continue to support your development through our specially designed CPD academy. As an NQT working as a Supply Teacher for Teaching Personnel, you will have access to 6 free resource packs; pedagogy and practice, curriculum, assessment, behaviour, SEN and professional behaviours.

What options do I have as a supply teacher?

  • Opportunity for ad-hoc daily supply work in a range of different schools
  • Opportunity to secure both temporary contracts and permanent roles
  • Support schools with 1:1 and small group tuition to help raise attainment and support children with SEN (and LAC)

Can I complete my induction year working as a Supply Teacher?

Yes. Providing you complete up to a term in a temporary contract, this can count towards your NQT induction year/ECT terms sign off. You can complete your NQT induction year or ECT 2 years in different schools which isn't a bad route to take. It shows any future employers that you are adaptable and will have gained valuable experience.

Is there opportunity for me to secure a permanent role through Teaching Personnel?

Yes. We provide our schools with a permanent recruitment service in addition to supply. You will hear of the latest opportunities and if permanent is what you are looking for, we will actively work on your behalf using our network of school contacts to discuss your skills and experience and secure you interviews. We will even help prepare you for any interviews with access to our bespoke interview and trial preparation guide.

How much will I be paid?

  • As an NQT working as an ad-hoc supply teacher, you can expect to earn between £100-£110 per day. In this scenario, you are not required to prepare lessons, simply arrive at the school by 8.15am (unless instructed otherwise), cover lessons as directed by the Cover Manager and then you are free to leave at the end of the day.
  • As an NQT working in a temporary contract, you can expect to achieve up to £135 per day. In this scenario, you should expect full NQT responsibility; planning, preparing, assessing, and contributing to the wider school community.
