Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Reception (Phonics Focus)

Location: M26

Job Type: Full-time | 8:30am–3:30pm

Start Date: September

Contract: Full Academic Year

Do you have extensive experience supporting early readers and a passion for phonics?

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the M26 area to recruit an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support children in Reception, with a strong focus on phonics intervention using the Read Write Inc scheme.

This role is ideal for a confident, knowledgeable EYFS practitioner who is enthusiastic about early reading and eager to make a meaningful, long-term impact on pupils at the very start of their learning journey.

About the School

The school is a friendly, supportive setting with a strong emphasis on early reading and language development. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children receive high-quality phonics teaching and targeted intervention where needed.

The Role Will Involve:

  • Supporting the delivery of Read Write Inc phonics sessions, ensuring fidelity to the programme
  • Leading small group and one-to-one phonics interventions to support early readers
  • Working closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to support progress and close learning gaps
  • Supporting children during Continuous Provision, with a particular focus on communication and language
  • Assisting with assessment, tracking, and recording phonics progress
  • Creating a calm, nurturing and structured environment that supports learning

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or Teaching Assistance
  • Extensive experience in EYFS, particularly in Reception
  • Strong, hands-on experience delivering Read Write Inc phonics
  • Confidence leading groups independently and adapting support to individual needs
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach to the school day
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for early literacy
  • A current DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
