Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full-Time Role in a Forward-Thinking Primary School
Location: Wythenshawe
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join this welcoming school community on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled HLTA to make a real difference within a collaborative, child-centred learning environment.
About the Role
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with class teachers, you will help plan lessons, deliver targeted interventions, lead small group sessions, and contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom experience. Your work will directly support pupils’ progress, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of engaging and effective lessons alongside class teachers
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils
- Plan and deliver targeted interventions, including for pupils with additional needs
- Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom organisation
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and external professionals
- Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress as required
What We’re Looking For
- HLTA qualification or substantial experience working as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant
- Previous experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting
- Strong understanding of child development and effective classroom practice
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive, flexible, and nurturing approach
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
