Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full-Time Role in a Progressive Wythenshawe Primary School

Location: Wythenshawe
Start Date: January 2026

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking, inclusive primary school in Wythenshawe dedicated to supporting every child’s academic, emotional, and social development.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join this nurturing school community from January 2026. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference within a supportive and collaborative environment.

About the Role

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting both teachers and pupils across a variety of subjects. You’ll assist in lesson planning, deliver targeted interventions, and help maintain an engaging, inclusive classroom atmosphere. Your contribution will directly enhance pupil progress, confidence, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of engaging lessons in collaboration with class teachers
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils
• Deliver tailored interventions for children with additional learning needs
• Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and general classroom administration
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment for all pupils
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development
• Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, and external professionals
• Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress as required

What We’re Looking For:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
• Proven experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school
• Strong understanding of child development and effective classroom management
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive, adaptable, and nurturing approach to working with young learners
• A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
