Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School, Salford
Start Date: After February half term
Location: Salford

About the Role
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing teaching and learning across the school. Working alongside class teachers, you will help deliver engaging lessons, lead targeted interventions, and support pupils with a diverse range of learning needs.
This position is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about education and ready to make a meaningful difference within a supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in planning and delivering high‑quality lessons across the primary curriculum
- Provide focused support for pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings
- Lead intervention programmes for children with additional needs, including SEND and EAL
- Create an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment
- Support pupils’ emotional and social development, fostering confidence and resilience
- Prepare and organise learning materials and assist in monitoring pupil progress
- Maintain strong communication with staff, parents, and carers
- Contribute to wider school life, including extracurricular activities and events
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as an HLTA or in a similar primary school role
- HLTA qualification or equivalent (highly desirable)
- Solid understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
- A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting children
- Confident in managing behaviour and promoting positive learning
- Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs and champion inclusive education
