Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Altrincham
Location: Altrincham
Start Date: As soon as possible

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Altrincham that is seeking a caring, proactive, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team at the earliest opportunity.

About the Role

As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils in their first year of Key Stage 2. Your role will involve providing 1:1 and small group support, assisting with lesson delivery, and helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. You will play an important part in helping pupils build confidence, develop key academic skills, and thrive in their classroom routine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Year 5 class teacher with planning, delivering, and assessing lessons.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce learning and address specific needs.
  • Help to maintain a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Support children with diverse learning needs, including those with additional needs or English as an additional language.
  • Assist with classroom management to ensure a calm and productive learning space.
  • Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to promote pupil wellbeing and progress.

About You

  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school setting.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding, with the ability to nurture children’s confidence and independence.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all learners.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
